This is the place where you can personalize your profile!
But, how?
By moving, adding and personalizing widgets.
You can drag and drop to rearrange.
You can edit widgets to customize them.
The left side has widgets you can add!
Some widgets you can only access when you get a premium membership.
Some widgets have options that are only available when you get a premium membership.
We've split the page into zones!
Certain widgets can only be added to certain zones.
"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!
Now go forth and astound us all with your devious profiles!
A Poem-a-Day For months now I've been struggling to write, to capture some of the myriad ideas floating around in my head in some sort of prose. I've tried to write not only novels but also short stories and scripts as well, experimenting with different forms to get a feel for them. Perhaps one of those forms would work better. Unfortunately, I've had at best frustratingly mediocre results with all of it. Tuesday, things changed, however. I had a small series of coincidences that led to the writing of the first poem. Then a series of tangential thoughts led to the second poem. It felt so good to write something that I finished in one sitting that adequately (though not superbly) addressed how I was feeling. It doesn't include any realized sort of plot or moral or character, nor does it give me the satisfaction that comes only at the completion of a story, short or long. I find the compact size combined with vivid imagery and loose structural form while avoiding exposition delightful and promising. So here's the plan: for the next thirty days or so I will strive to write and post a poem every single day, with the exceptions being weekends when I may not have access to the internet. That way, I'll have an outside source pushing me onward, the personal expectation to post something daily. Those of you who do NANOWRIMO understand the importance of the outside mediator, even if you don't ever show your work to anyone. My invitation, then, goes out to anyone who wants to join me either on Facebook or deviantart.com and post a poem a day. I don't have any expectations as to the type or the length. Most I figure will just be free style, but I may start to study and experiment with different forms. So weigh in if you're going to join me. Otherwise, if all you want to do is criticize or critique, stay out. I'm sure there's nothing you could say to me that I haven't already said to myself, but I don't want to hear it from outside sources. You're just being mean saying things like that. So go away.
